As a photographer who frequently captures engagement photos in Hawaii, I am ecstatic about the engagement season! I enjoy learning about couples’ wedding plans, how they choose Hawaii, and ultimately their venue. I truly love hearing about all the little things they’ve incorporated into their day to make it their own!
Did you know that last year (2021), over 16,000 people got married in Hawaii? According to the Free Market Wedding Report, Hawaii ranks #33 out of 51 states in the number of weddings for that year. As it is a popular wedding destination location, it is also a popular engagement session location.
When you visit Hawaii, hit two birds with one stone! I mean not literally! Make a trip out to Hawaii to scope out possible wedding venues and wedding accommodations, meet vendors and get an engagement session! This gives you time to get to know your wedding photographer, talk about your day and get comfortable with their shooting style!
So whether you come to visit already engaged or want to pop the question in a surprise proposal (ex. This stunning proposal at Mauna Lani), hire a pro to get those photos! Your photographer can help you pick a great location for these images. The bonus is you get to send save-the-date cards with your Hawaii engagement photos! Win-win!
Finally, check out Emiko and Lane’s stunning engagement session photos at Kikaua Beach. News alert: Kikaua is possibly in the top 2 of my favorite locations to shoot on the Kona side! We had perfect weather coupled with the most amazing sunset!
