The HAWAII WEDDING
Experience

Your wedding day is going to be one of the best days of your life! When you invest in wedding photography, you are investing in something that can be cherished for generations to come. After the day, when your dress is put away or donated, the top cake eaten on your first anniversary, one of the most important reminders of your beautiful and happy day will be your wedding photographs.

I care so much about your wedding! Having gone through the process myself, I know for a fact that choosing my awesome photographer was one of the best decisions I made while planning my wedding. I went for timeless imagery with focus on beautiful landscapes and moments. I wanted to remember how it all felt when parts of the day sometimes seemed like a blur. I treasure all my photos over a decade later and am still so proud that we "splurged" as grad students on an amazing photographer!

As much as I strive to capture timeless portraits and lovely details on your wedding day, I will also be there to freeze magical moments into photographs. Those passionate, deep, fun, intimate moments that pull at my heart and leave me feeling whole as an artist is really what I live for when I show up for your day! I think those moments deserve to be captured and remembered forever! As you wedding photographer, I am there to capture your day in the most authentic and beautiful way!

“Ann is amazing at what she does. What makes her an exceptional photographer is also her ability to connect with you and communicate effectively before and during the session. She made us feel at ease. Our session resulted in not only amazing photographs, but a genuinely fun and seamless experience at the beach with a beautiful sunset. I highly recommend Ann as your photographer no matter the occasion.” -Jon C.

Have Questions? Get Answers

Common FAQs

Q: How long have you been a photographer?

A: I got into photography as a hobby well over a decade ago while I was in graduate school. It wasn't until I moved to Hawaii in 2014 when I started dabbling into portrait work and I opened my business here in 2015.  I started out as a family and newborn photographer but quickly fell head over heels in loved with weddings in 2016. At this time, I have photographed hundreds of weddings and families!

Q: Do I need a second photographer?

A: I shoot the majority of my weddings solo. But a second photographer can be added to your package. The need for a second photographer will depend on your budget, the size of your wedding and the number of locations.  With a second photographer, you will get a slightly higher number of final images. The second photographer can cover fast moving portions of the wedding where I can't be in two places at the same time. If you want your cocktail hour and details captured for the reception, then a second photographer might be a great option to have! Sometimes you will need fewer hours of coverage when a second photographer is available as we can both simultaneously cover the getting ready part of the day.

Q: Do I need an engagement session?

A: It totally depends! Majority of the weddings I photograph are destination which means that I rarely get to meet the couple before the wedding day. Often when they are here looking for venues or on a quick trip to wedding plan on location, that might be an opportunity for you to have an engagement session with me. You can use the photos for wedding details like save-the-dates, invitations, wedding registries, guest books, and  prints for your guest table/bar!

Q: What kind of equipment do you use?

A: I have always been a Nikon photographer! I shoot with two Nikon professional mirrorless cameras and lenses.  I think having two cameras on me at all times ensures that I can document your day with ease and do not waste my time switching lenses all the time.

Q: Do you offer any albums, prints, canvases, guest books, etc?

A: Yes, I do! There is not expectation to pre-order any print or wall art before your day because I would love you to get excited about the photographs before placing orders on those. That way, you only order exactly what you want, when you want, and when you know with confidence that they are going to look amazing on your walls and in your fine art heirloom albums. And all of this is done & ordered right through your online gallery!

Q: Do you offer payment plans?

A: Yes, all you have to do is request it at the time of booking, Traditional payments are 30% due at the time of booking (within a week) and the final 70% is due 30 days prior to your wedding day. But, if you wanted to do the payment plan, I can stretch it into equal  1/4's of the total package price if that works best for you. Don't hesitate to ask, and we can make it happen!

Q: what happens if you aren't able to make it to our big day?

In the super unlikely event that I am too ill, injured, or there's some other emergency, I have a list of colleagues that we can call on to replace me that have similar styles of photography & editing. That said, in my many years of shooting both weddings and portrait sessions, I have never been late or missed an event. In fact, I tend to show up super early :)

Q: How do I book you for my wedding day?

A: I am so happy to answer this question! To book me for your wedding day, simply let me know what you want included in your custom collection based on the steps above: 1) hours of coverage, 2) engagement session, 3) Second photographer or none (optional), and 4) What payment plan option works best for you.  Once your agreement and retainer is paid--your are officially booked and on my calendar!

Q: What can you capture with 6 hours of coverage?

A: The elements of your day that can be captured within 6 hours without feeling too rushed will depend on the number of getting ready locations, the size of your wedding party and any other special events of your day.
Below is a sample 6-hr wedding coverage with 6 people in the wedding party (for example: 3 bridesmaids/3 groomsmen)

2:30     Coverage Starts
2:30     Client 1 getting ready (already dressed)
2:45     Ann heads to Client 2
3:00    Client 2 gets in dress
3:45    Head over to the ceremony
4:00    Ceremony
4:25    Ceremony Ends
4:30    Family Photos
4:50    Wedding Party Photos with the couple
5:15     Couples Photos
6:15     Sunset and head back to reception
6:25    Grand Entrance and First Dance
6:40    Dinner Opens
7:20     Toasts
7:45     Cake Cutting
8:00     Parent Dances
8:15      Open Dancing
8:30     Coverage Ends

As you can see, a 6-hr coverage can adequately cover the most important parts of a typical wedding day. When a larger wedding party is involved or there is need for more time to move from one location to another, it is likely that you will need more coverage time. I help all my couples on their timeline and can work alongside the wedding planner to make sure my coverage time is adequate for what you want. After all, this is your day!

Q: WILL YOU EVER TAKE WEDDINGS LESS THAN 6 HOURS?

A: Every now and then I will accept a wedding with less than six hours of coverage. It really depends on the type and size of event. Any event with less than six hours of coverage will not include a getting ready coverage as well as majority of the reception. These smaller events are accepted for groups with 25 or fewer guests on a case-by-case basis.
